(HuffPost) – An offshore oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, west of the site of the April blast that caused the massive oil spill. A commercial helicopter company reported the blast around 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday, Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel said. Seven helicopters, two airplanes and four boats were en route to the site, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast. The Coast Guard said initial reports indicated all 13 crew members from the rig were in the water. One was injured, but there were no deaths. The platform owned by Mariner Energy is in about 2,500 feet of water, the Coast Guard said, and was not currently producing.

Digital Journal) – When a cow died, leaving a three-day-old calf an orphan, an Indian woman decided to raise the animal by breastfeeding it herself.  Chouthi Bai, who lives in Kilchu village, Rajasthan, breastfeeds the calf, who is now more than a month and a half old, three or four times a day. “After her mother died, I held her in my arms and breastfed her. I nurtured her by feeding her my milk,” she said when speaking to a Reuters reporter. “She was so young when the cow died. For me there is no difference between a calf and an infant,” she said. The calf, who follows Bai closely, is also fed bread and grass. “I feed her three-four times in a day, the same amount an infant requires in a day,” Bai added. “Sometimes we have to feed her bread. We give her water to drink and slowly she will grow on this diet. So, even in my absence she is fed. She will grow up eating grass. The gods will be pleased if I raise her.”

The entrepreneur in me wants to snatch up every domain possible that has to do with lactating Indian women and cows. Surely there has to be a market for this kind of thing.
